Blue Skies choir

I’ve written a song, and I’d like you to sing it.

Blue Skies is a simple song with two-part chorus. I wrote it because I fancied experimenting with call-and-response and wanted something my community choir could sing easily.

You can listen to an outline recording on Soundcloud now: https://on.soundcloud.com/5w0A80PebinojrZTwo

So now I want to record it “properly”, and I’d like to invite everybody to get involved. I’ve put the lyrics in this post below, and you can download a pdf of the music here if you want to read the actual dots.

All you have to do is play the song track through headphones on one device, while recording yourself on another. You can record video or audio, then upload it to my Dropbox here:

There’s a cloud in the sky, in the shape of a heart,
it floats overhead upon the breeze.
There’s a song in the air, as we gaze at the sky,
and the rustling of the trees.

Watching clouds as they cross the sky;
tufts of white in the endless blue.
Songs of life with the words unheard,
and a day spent here with you.

There’s a song in the air, from a bird in the tree,
an anthem that knows no flag or crown.
And we share in that joy, of the clouds and the birds,
knowing nothing holds us down.

Watching clouds as they cross the sky;
tufts of white in the endless blue.
Songs of life with the words unheard,
and a day spent here with you.

(countermelody)
Watching clouds cross the sky, in the endless blue.
Songs of life, words unheard, spent here with you.
