Over the years I’ve written a number of songs and pieces of music for church use or with an overtly Christian theme.
Rather than bunch them all with the rest of my work, I’m pulling them together into this one place.
vox ignis is a couple of Latin words, for “voice” and “fire” (as in a beacon, a light on a hill) and I hope that imagery will be persistent. There’s a whole load of Biblical connotations to both words, but I’m not going to explore that here. Please feel free to browse through what I already have, and don’t hesitate to ask if you have an idea you’d commission me to write.
Talk about putting the gig in giggle! We played last night to the massed crowds of Kenilworth (or at least the three who turned up) at the Tree House Bookshop.
Andy and I (as Dischord) had an absolute blast. With unusual presence of mind, I recorded some bits of the gig, and we’ve put out an EP for folks to listen to. I hope you thoroughly enjoy it, as much as we enjoyed playing.

I’ve just released Bunch of Keys via Bandcamp, and it’s available now. It’s a free download unless you fancy paying for it, which I kind of hope you will.
It was recorded in one night using some original material which I had composed, and a couple of old melodies, to inspire a set of raw unrehearsed improvised pieces.
I have uploaded the first part of what will become Computer Science – my latest 2012 plaything. Continue reading
We’re playing at the first Solihull festival today, with sets at 12 and 3. This on the back of a very productive day recording yesterday. When I joined the band in January I had no idea we’d be enjoying this level of busy-ness:
Friday night we played at the White Lion in Walsall.
Saturday night we were at The Bell, Harborne.
Yesterday we recorded some material for a forthcoming release.
Today we’re at the Solihull Jazz and Blues Festival.
Thursday we’re at the Crossroads Blues Club.
Saturday we’re on the road to Taff’s Well, near Cardiff.
…and it’s only just the beginning of the summer!
