Interesting Gig Proposal
I received an e-mail today from Najma Hush. She’s a very nice person who is launching an exhibition at the Ort Café on Friday February 21st.
You can see details of the event on Facebook.

Talk about putting the gig in giggle! We played last night to the massed crowds of Kenilworth (or at least the three who turned up) at the Tree House Bookshop.
Andy and I (as Dischord) had an absolute blast. With unusual presence of mind, I recorded some bits of the gig, and we’ve put out an EP for folks to listen to. I hope you thoroughly enjoy it, as much as we enjoyed playing.
I’ve just confirmed a gig at The Tree House Bookshop in Kenilworth. Details are available here on Facebook, if you want to see a map and confirm attendance there.
If you fancy coming, but don’t use Facebook, just let me know via another channel (a comment here, even) and we’ll factor you in. I don’t expect we’ll push the capacity of the venue, but it would be good to know you’ll be there. It kicks off at 8 o’clock in the evening on November 14th.
I’m delighted to be able to do a small scale gig somewhere interesting, and to share in the fun, Andy Arnold will be joining me on guitar. » Read more
Tricky one this…
Most of the gigs I’ve ever done have been as a backing musician. Backing in a band, backing a choir, backing an event. Solo gigs have certainly happened in the context of a social or dinner event and therefore I have been a side attraction at best.
It’s been a disappointing day today. » Read more
We’re playing at the first Solihull festival today, with sets at 12 and 3. This on the back of a very productive day recording yesterday. When I joined the band in January I had no idea we’d be enjoying this level of busy-ness:
Friday night we played at the White Lion in Walsall.
Saturday night we were at The Bell, Harborne.
Yesterday we recorded some material for a forthcoming release.
Today we’re at the Solihull Jazz and Blues Festival.
Thursday we’re at the Crossroads Blues Club.
Saturday we’re on the road to Taff’s Well, near Cardiff.
…and it’s only just the beginning of the summer!
So the band is back on the road. In a very real sense, the first gig was the rehearsal for this one. We’re here, at the Robin 2 in Bilston on Feb 29th, supporting Big Boy Bloater and it’s my big chance to prove I can hack it with the big boys.
To that end, I’ve actually resorted to preparation and a little bit of practising, This is going to be a great night, a true and apt celebration of the leap year, because quite literally gigs like this don’t come round very often.
If you want to come down and see us, let me know and I’ll try to sort out some advance tickets through the band.
The only really big challenge will be waking up Thursday morning.
The Grey Goose Blues Band will be at the Railway Inn, Pelsall tonight. I will be playing keyboards. This is excellent. I’m not sure what time we’ll be on stage, but feel free to pop down, [buy me a drink] and listen to the excellent output of this talented bunch who have taken me under their wing.
There may be dancing.
