Live in the Tree House

I’ve just confirmed a gig at The Tree House Bookshop in Kenilworth. Details are available here on Facebook, if you want to see a map and confirm attendance there.

If you fancy coming, but don’t use Facebook, just let me know via another channel (a comment here, even) and we’ll factor you in. I don’t expect we’ll push the capacity of the venue, but it would be good to know you’ll be there. It kicks off at 8 o’clock in the evening on November 14th.

I’m delighted to be able to do a small scale gig somewhere interesting, and to share in the fun, Andy Arnold will be joining me on guitar. Continue reading »

Bunch of Keys – new album

I’ve just released Bunch of Keys┬ávia Bandcamp, and it’s available now. It’s a free download unless you fancy paying for it, which I kind of hope you will.

Bunch of Keys

It was recorded in one night using some original material which I had composed, and a couple of old melodies, to inspire a set of raw unrehearsed improvised pieces.

Enjoy

Tricky one this…

Most of the gigs I’ve ever done have been as a backing musician. Backing in a band, backing a choir, backing an event. Solo gigs have certainly happened in the context of a social or dinner event and therefore I have been a side attraction at best.

Creative Walsall Network

I ran across a postcard advertising a Creative Network in my home town. Admittedly, I was in Walsall’s “New” Art Gallery, so local advertising is to be expected, but great nonetheless to see a Walsall Creative initiative.

It’s been a while… but I haven’t gone anywhere

I haven’t been busy, but I have been doing things.

At Easter, Neil Robbie in West Bromwich commissioned a new childrens’ song about Moses, which was duly supplied. I was lucky enough to be sat in the church when they sang it at their Easter service, and was delighted to have been involved.

At the end of 2012 I left the Grey Goose Blues Band, leaving a vacant slot which I believe they’ve filled to mutual satisfaction.

I’m working on a new album of music, although that’s stalled for the last couple of months, and I’m impatient to get back to it.

We’re hoping to be at Greenbelt again this year, enjoying the atmosphere of the most laid back Christian Arts Festival known to mankind, and relaxing in the sun. There had better be sun after last year’s Saturday afternoon washout!

And in the meantime, I’ve been experimenting building instruments, and getting a little better with the bouzouki I picked up a few years back.

I’ll post more information on the new abum as soon as I have some.
