New Project is Notable

An exciting new project is in the offing – in association with Mapseeker Studios I have established a school of Music Theory and Composition. Hurrah!

More information is available here.

Composition was the main thrust of my degree dissertation anyway, and I never get the opportunity to properly teach theory; it’s always in a rush as people realise they need Grade V to go any further. I’m not happy to leave theory as a “chore” exam that must be passed. Good theoretical knowledge unlocks the potential for compositional technique and gives deeper context to how we play our instruments. It’s vital core knowledge, and much better if taught early on to students who aren’t up against an exam deadline.

At any rate, we’re off. The school launches on Thursday 8th May.
